Hi

I've recently started seeing a psychiatrist who specialises in diabetes to help get myself back on track as I wasn't testing, wasn't injecting and generally blocking out the consequences of my actions

He diagnosed me with anxiety amongst other things and told me that comfort eating was part of my problem. He prescribed a low dose of antidepressants and recommended I take tryptophan to suppress my appetite and supplement the antidepressants. Tryptophan isn't prescribed - you have to buy it online to get the high dose my doctor recommended (you can buy it in Holland and Barrett in very small doses) but I read up on it and didn't like the sound of it

I'm now getting on track with my tests and injections but because I'm still a huge over eater my blood sugars are still running in the low teens (a huge improvement for me) and I'm now gaining weight fast

I wondered if anyone had any experience with tryptophan or if anyone had any alternative advice that could help me?

Thanks :)
