Turmeric - Just Testing A Theory

I am a type 2 and keep a watch on my blood sugar level every morning.
Normally my bloods are usually between 5.5 when low and 12.5 when very high.
Recently my bloods have crept up and have sat at 10 - 11.5 for most of May without a change of diet (a little bit of stress)
That was until yesterday 20 May when it plummeted from 11.5 to 8.2 overnight.
We had a home made chicken curry made the usual way with the usual ingredients.
When making the rice added cardamom seeds an then turmeric but the lid fell off adding a lot more than usual.
The rice was a bit earthy and almost fluorescent but edible.
I am sure I have read somewhere that turmeric was "good" for diabetes but can't find anything now.
I have started adding it to other things now - baked beans are nice
Will let you all know how I get on

You say you are eating healthy but you're eating rice, no wonder you're bloods are on the way up.
I make homemade curry and temeric is fine. But I have the curry with salad.
Carbs are the real baddies for diabetics.
Have a look at our low carb forum and the recipes there, it is full of great recipes.
Also have a look at the success stories on the forum.
Do you test before and 2 hours after? This will give you a better understanding of what you are eating is doing to your blood glucose levels.
I've tagged @daisy1 to give you the newcomers information.

And welcome,

Ive read that somewhere too. Please let us know how the experiment goes

I hope you do see some benefits from it ...there are many things meant to be ''good for diabetics'' to lower BG (ginger, cinnamon, and many others) but non of them can even hope to help if we are taking in too many carbs. Rice and baked beans have many carbs in them...a small tin of baked beans 150g has 17.6g carb and rice is not good either...even brown rice so maybe if you cut them down a little you might see a bigger improvement in your BG

In a recent study, researchers from Harbin Medical University and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention evaluated the ability of curcuminoids (a major component of tumeric) to reduce levels of free fatty acids (FFAs) in patients with type 2 diabetes. Curcuminoids is the general term for curcumin and its extracts, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin.
In fact, curcumin has been the subject of scores of studies suggesting it can be helpful in fatty liver disease, Alzheimer's disease, tendinitis, and Rift Valley Fever virus, among other conditions.

i am trying tumeric and cinamon 3 weeks so far no improvement in sugar levels
