Hi all is turmeric safe to take for Type 2 folk? I asked Holland and Barrett and they said that it wasn't.
Hi @HSSS, yes but that is only the case whilst the Tumeric is in your digestive system, so if you had, for example, spinach and eggs for breakfast and then something with Tumeric in it for lunch/later in the day you'd absorb the iron from the spinach and get the anti-inflammatory benefits from the Tumeric but they wouldn't interfere with each other. Maybe ask/speak to a nutritionist about it?I’ve just found out turmeric is a chelater (negates) for the absorption of iron. Worth bearing in mind if your haemoglobin or ferretin is non optimal. Shame cos I used it a lot.
