Hello. I am new to this forum and have read some very helpful, informative posts.

I have two children, ages 13 and 11, both of whom have T1. They were diagnosed 10 and 6 years ago, respectively.

Do any other parents here have more than one child with T1?

Hi TeamCure!

I am 24 years old (not a parent so probably not who you are looking for on this thread!) but I was diagnosed at the age of 4. I have a younger brother & sister of 21 & 15 respectively. My brother got diagnosed with Type 1 about a year & a half ago around the birth of his son.

A brother & sister who live a house down from my parents were also diagnosed a couples years ago a year or so apart. I remember being told it was very rare for siblings to get type 1, but it seems not! Strange but also nice going from being the only diabetic my age in my area to having a group of us!

Do your boys help each other out with it? I know it's nice to now have someone who understands to talk with & notices things too. Are they also on similar meds & units?

Hello and welcome

I know of a family who have two type 1 children, a girl and a boy. I cannot begin to image what it must be like coping with two diabetic children :(

With best wishes RRB

Hi, I myself am a type 1 diabetic. I have a son who was diagnosed type 1 diabetic, 2 years ago. My other son is in the early stages of type 1 diabetes. Your not alone hun. Xxx

Hi

I'm a single dad of three kids from Northern Ireland, My daughter is now 21 was diagnosed a the age of 4 n half were it missed her twin brother and my other daughter is now 15 was diagnosed at the age of around 4 n half and both have Epilepsy, things have been going well but when they both take a low and some times their BM levels crash then that can create a diabetic seizure , talk about a melt down lol.

Anyways it would be nice to chat to other parents on here and from Northern Ireland as when my two were diagnosed with type1 all you got from the hospital was the education of diabetes and leaflets no support group advice of other parents.

I have 2 children with T1 diabetes my daughter who is nearly 18 will have been diagnosed 5 years in Jan - she was diagnosed 3 days after her 13 th birthday my son who is 13 was diagnosed a year ago this month. My daughter is an awful diabetic who manipulates her insulin to keep her weight down and has an eating disorder- luckily she has not done herself any real damage and is now receiving help whilst my son who is mildly Aspergers is a really good T1 with great HBA1Cs . I know of 2 other families at the kids school where both siblings are diabetic. My kids are the only diabetics in our families

I have 2 children a girl who is 16 and was diagnosed at 6 and a boy who is 10 diagnosed at 7 . This is such a challenge because they all manage differently .

Hi, I have diabetes and was diagnosed at 21 (am now 34) and was the only one in my family with this until my younger brother was also diagnosed with it 2yrs ago at the age of 26, we have another brother who does not have diabetes (he's the lucky one I guess!) We are on the same insulins and have to admit it is nice now to have someone to talk to, we share the highs and the lows:happy:

My son as recently been diagnosed, I have two younger sons doctor told me not to worry as there's no more risk of my other two getting it just because he as but iv read there is a slightly higher risk so don't know what to think, what are your views xx
