Currently still learning as I found I had diabetes in Feb. I was sent to hospital when I started coughing up blood and found I had a hba1c of 105 and blood sugar of 29.
Now reading a regular of 5 to 7 after food and although tested only 7 weeks in my hba1c is 62. Told it will be lower in another month due to 3 month rule. Lost 1st 10 in ten weeks and now been taken off all medication. The diabetic nurse said I was the reason she got in the job as she would go home Happy knowing someone had taken it so seriously and wanted to turn their life around... As a grown man it put a lump in my throat.
A good doctor is crucial imo. My last doc missed the diagnosis although I'd been complaining about regular water infections, changes in eyesight, what I thought were panic attacks and excessive thirst... I've changed since and the encouragement and advice has been brilliant.
It's taken a while for my body to get used to normal readings and I had quite a few hypos during using medication, my new doctor explained they would settle down and they have.
I want to lose at least another 4 stone yet but don't know if I can afford a new wardrobe lol. Thanks to you all, its a great group and it's been really encouraging reading success stories from others. Your posts, help, tips and advice have got me here as when I started I hadn't got a clue.
