If the tablets aren't working and your HBa1C rises too high (see NICE guidelines) then you will need to move to insulin. If you are something like LADA then the move to insulin comes faster. There are two tests the GP can do to confirm LADA or otherwise i.e. c-peptide and GAD. If your GP is like mine he/she will resist going over to insulin until the HBa1C rises quite high. I'm keeping a close eye on my HBa1c and will push for insulin when it's needed. Let me know your age and weight/BMI. You could, of course, have some other condition that is causing the high blood sugar; nothing is easy!
