Type 1 and Illness

Apologies for not reading/searching through the past posts but I feel sure someone out there will be able to reply to my question quicker.
My son, who is Type 1, was vomitting for around 6 hours last night (we're not sure if it was something he ate or a short lived tummy bug). He can't face eating but has been having fluids. He did have a little milkshake, perhaps my fault because I read on this site that he should still be getting carbs and last reading was 15. During the night it went from 11 to 10 and then up to 13 then 15 last reading. Is it ok for him just to continue on water until he feels like eating? He has had about 3 units of Novorapid to try and bring his blood sugar down a bit and I will be checking on him again mid-day.
Advice welcome.

Yes keep him hydrated. Try him on some sugary orange juice or milk if blood sugars start to drop. Don't stop the insulin is always the advice I'm given when I'm ill. Also, check for ketones as these can develop with illnesses and high sugars. Hope he feels better soon.

And also, best to speak to GP or DSN if it worsens today. Any improvement?

Hope he's feeling better now! If he's feeling ill already high BG won't be helping. I hope it's come down further
