Hello,
I am a 19 year old type 1 diabetic and me and my partner have been trying for a baby for about a year. I was wondering if anyone else with Type 1 found themselves in the same situation where they have been struggling to conceive? (I have good blood control and have been checked and there is nothing wrong as far as me not being able to conceive) Thank you

Hi there @missalish
welcome to the forum :)
i have moved your post to the pregnancy section -- hopefully some of our lovely ladies will be along with some support !!

Welcome @missalish :)

I'm presuming your partner has been checked too? Obvious question, but best to check :)

If your BS is under control, then that's a major thing so you've made a good start :) Have you tried a fertility app or ovulation tests? There's a surprisingly small window when you're fertile.

Have your doctors given you any advice at all? Have you had all the tests or just a few?

Difficulty conceiving is surprisingly common. Around 1 in 6 couples have some difficulties. But remember, most are sorted :)

My advice, if you and your partner have had all the appropriate tests, is to keep up the good work with your blood sugar, eat a healthy diet with plenty of veg, healthy carbs, protein and fats (fats are important for fertility), track your ovulation, and perhaps try some kind of relaxation each day. Even sitting quietly for 5 minutes a day and doing some deep breathing can help relaxation.

Final tip - focus on the things above. Don't focus on conceiving, if that makes sense? That's what people mean when they say "Try not to think about it and it'll happen".

Well, if you're both ok, then that should be a relief :) It'll happen. Just imagine you're on a super-fertility health plan, doing all the things I mentioned. Make sure your partner eats healthily too and maybe takes a multivitamin.

Treat it like a health thing - aiming to be on top form. That'll give your body the best chance to conceive :)

Good luck :)

Have you had a pre conception chat with your DSN? I think, I could be wrong, that type 1 ladies looking to start a family get put on folic acid supplements when they start trying.
