In the original post the user asks if 'poor lifestyle' could be a cause of developing type 1, I assumed that meant 'unhealthy' because he mentions obesity and drinking to much.
My reply was in response to the original question asked.

I reckon the idea that lifestyle could play a role is unnecessarily controversial because some of the reporting misrepresented the hypothesis of the study & that is reflected by the first post. Here's the press release from Exeter, for info - http://www.exeter.ac.uk/news/featurednews/title_506628_en.html - but, TLDR: they don't think we are type 1 because we ate too much sugar etc.
