Hi everyone. For the past 4-6 weeks I have had minor abdominal pains and increasingly watery stools. Saw GP who did some tests and the Calprotectin stool test came back positive (93) which could suggest I have IBD (e.g. Chrons or UC). I'm being referred to a Gastroenterologist for more tests (probably a colonoscopy).

Really worried about all this - especially because I read that IBD is more common in people with Type 1 Diabetes. Anyone have both of them and can reassure me it's not the be-all-and-end-all if I end up with them both too? I find living with T1D hard enough, adding another auto-immune disease must be so difficult.

Hi there. I've just read your post and want to say - please don't despair. I was diagnosed with Chron's Disease in 2017 & Type 1 diabetes in 2220. There are days that are really tough, especially experiencing fatigue, hypos, hypers, Chron's flare up, life & work. Just take it all in your stride & make sure you get the right medical support & peer support. I found this forum invaluable during my initial diagnosis during the Covid pandemic, when the country closed down. Looks like I have another immune disease as I've been referred to an endocrinologist, as my morning cortisol blood test is low. Wishing you the very best.
