Hi All

Just joined the site, I'm training for the Paris Marathon on 12th April. Do any of you have experience of training long distances, surviving marathons etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Vitzman and welcome to the forum :)

There's a few type 1's on the forum who enjoy marathon running, @ElyDave & @phoenix are two that I know of.

Have a read of the following website, it was set-up to offer help and advice to type 1's who enjoy sport, the chap behind it advised Sir Steve Redgrave on his diabetes management when he was a competitive athlete:

Wow! Good luck for that.
@noblehead is right that www.runsweet.com is great, also try www.teambloodglucose.com and the Facebook group for sporty Type 1's that you can link to from TeamBG. You should get some good advice there too.

Thanks, Noblehead, I have already encountered the website you mentioned. It does have some good stuff on it, I just wondered if there was anything else out there that people use, of course I'm conscious that we are all different and unfortunately there is not a one approach fits all, but being as knowledgeable as possible is hopefully going to help me reach my goal. A sub 4 hr marathon. I have already experienced running long distance through hypos, it's not pleasant!
