Hi,

I've been diabetic since I was 2.5 years old. I'm 21 next month. I use the insulin pump, have done for the last nearly 5 years. Control is ok, could be better. But working in the right direction especially for my little boy.

My son Ethan was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on the 31st October 2015, he's only 17 months old. He is due to go onto an insulin pump on the 9th December. I am really excited for this opportunity for the pump.

I was just wondering if anyone was in the same boat as me with a young child on the insulin pump or knows off a young child on it.

I was 15 when I was placed on the insulin pump.

Thanks for reading our story

Welcome to the forum @Hollieandethan:)

That is a great picture of you both and I'm sorry to hear about your son's diagnosis, if you don't mind I'll move your thread to the Parents section of the forum in the hope that other parents will reply.

I really do hope the pump goes well for your son, do keep us updated on his progress.

Thanks so much. I'm hoping he love it like myself. Unfortunately at the min he is loaded with the cold and sugars are running slightly high. so hard when they are so wee!

Thanks for your reply :)

I cannot imagine how heartbreaking it is for you, really hope your boy gets over his cold soon.

Hi there my son was diagnosed at 18 months old and put on the pump when he was 2 years old he is now coming up to his 8th birthday!

Hello! Our son was diagnosed at 22months and started pumping just before his 2nd birthday and we haven't looked back xx

Hey sorry haven't been around. Ethan got his pump on the 9th and he is just amazing. Doesn't cry with set changes doesn't touch his pump just leaves it alone. He knows what to do with the inserters and tries to push it on his belly (doesn't know how to work it) he's now 22 months. Can't believe how well kids adapt to it all. He's just like a "normal" toddler! Thanks for the support xx
