Hey Guys, glad to have joined this supportive forum!

I have recently got back my results (confirmed Type 1) and results showed:

GAD Antibodies = 180.6
IA2 = under 0.8
Zinc Transporter 8 = 20.8

I asked for C Peptide to see how much insulin my pancreas was making and they did not have this result.

Can anyone confirm whether this is LADA or type 1?

Would appreciate any input here, thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forums.

Not a doctor here so take whatever I say with a pinch of salt, but does it really matter? As you're in the UK I believe LADA gets treated as T1. LADA may develop more slowly than T1 but the end result is the same - you'll be insulin dependent and need to balance your carbs with your insulin.

As a T1 you'll be eligible for T1 technology such as cgms and (eventually, hopefully) a pump (should you want one).

It's a club that no one wants to join and I'm sorry about that, but treatment for T1s improves all the time so I'd argue that your future is bright, as long as you accept the need for insulin.

Good luck and once more, welcome.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

Yes this is all very true, guess I was hoping to try and figure out to what extent my pancreas was still making insulin to help better understand how much 'honeymoon' phase i'm in now, and what I can expect to happen over time!
