Hiya all. I'm after some advice. I have been a type 1 diabetic for 19 years now and I'm finding it increasing difficult to juggle everything. I have 2 children of school age and I have a job working school hours. Just recently I have had to go to extra appointments with my DN and eye appointments due to a few problems. I'm finding it so hard to try and be in 3 places at once and trying to make up my time I've missed from work due to so many appointments. I want to be there for my kids and provide for them but I also understand how important it is to look after myself but I can't keep splitting myself in 3! HELP

Can you find a good childminder who can work on a casual or part time basis?

Depending on your income you can claim about 70% of the costs back.

If the children are with someone you trust you could relax when you set off for your appointments

Thank you cara. My hubby works long hours and we are not entitled to any benefits. It's very hard to find a child minder that can be so flexible and I'm finding it hard to keep relying on friends and family all the time. Xxx

What about employers childcare vouchers?

It would be worth getting a list of childminders in the are and ringing them all with your requirements, they can only say no.

The alternative would be to ask a friend or family member to do it but pay them so you wouldn't feel so bad, or swap childcare with someone else. Bank the hours.

Before and after school clubs if available. You may have to enquire with the school as some may require notice at the start of each school term.
