Type 1 my journey

Hi all,

New to the forum i thought i would share my journey.

It was christmas time about 5 years ago when i went on an extreme 5 stone rapid weight watchers diet. Only kidding this was really the diabetes kicking in along with extreme thirst. I went to the doctors and they informed me I had type 2 diabetes due to my age and family history. I queried this as everything i read online suggested type 1 but this fell on deaf ears and i went on my merry way with metformin in tow.

Three months later of eating a low carb diet and feeling nauseous i had a call from a diligent diabetic nurse telling me there had been a mistake. I was immediately put onto insulin T1 medication and informed i was two weeks away from being in a coma!

All is well now I have been a diabetic for 5+ years and am in pretty good control of my diabetes.

If you have read this far I thank you for sticking with me :)

Hi Dan and welcome, your story sounds very similar to mine, although it took them 15 months to re-diagnose me as a type 1.
