There are some genetic markers that make a person more likely to develop T1, but that's about as far as current medical knowledge seems to go.</p><p></p><p>Obviously covid is a whole new ballgame and no one really knows its consequences yet, but I think you're probably in denial in hoping that your daughter hasn't got T1. It's a hard diagnosis, possibly harder for the parent than the child (I was diagnosed at 8) but there are very few careers that are closed to T1s (astronaut and military come to mind) and it's probably best to concentrate on getting the hang of the treatment rather than speculating on whatifs (sorry, I know that's easy to say, maybe not so easy to do). Medical care for modern T1s is infinitely better than it was 50 years ago when I was first diagnosed, and I am certainly intending to do my best to stay fit and healthy for another 2 or 3 decades.</p><p></p><p>Good luck.
