How does a doctor decide if you are type 1 or type 2?.

I think that they make an educated guess based on the symptoms and any blood tests which have been done - it is not always clear and of course there are not just the two types.

Symptoms, blood test results or notification of hospital diagnoses. There are cases of misdiagnosis occasionally.
