Are there indications (genetic or diagnostic) of prediabetes for type 1 diabetes?

Hello @Elias DT1 Can you advise what your reasoning is behind the questions, perhaps we can help further ?

There is a genetic test for children of type 1's in the UK to determine if they have a pre-disposition to acquiring the condition. There is also a c peptide test to determine whether the antibodies which are linked to type 1 are present in someone who has been diagnosed with diabetes but their type hasn't been confirmed, this is an important test as some type 1's are misdiagnosed with type 2 and treated with medication which can worsen their situation.

Hi juicy j, thank you very much for your answers
well my thoughts are not fragmented now and I put what I have in my head in question, we will talk about it later

I would add that finding that beta cell function has been compromised by an autoimmune problem can lead to dietary treatment (low carb) to preserve beta cell functionality. I have a friend who has a daughter whom she believes is MODI type 1 because she is herself or believes she is but until symptoms develop she is not permitted to get the genetic test. They are treating her with low carb having spotted an abnormal blood glucose response.

Well, I added that when I was young before I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, I had always felt symptoms of hipoglycemia, especially at lunchtime, so I don't know if we can consider this as prediabetes indicator.
