Hi,
I am a newly diagnosed type 1 ) 7 weeks ago) aged 53 .
I have followed a LCHF diet since diagnosis and all seems well at the minute. Not over weight amd have gained none since being diagnosed, swimming most days seems to help. Only 2 minor hypos so far.
BS average over this whole period is 9.1which is obviously still high but working on bringing this down.
My question is I am currently on holiday and want to have a sports massage.Just read a couple of articles with conflicting information that they are good/ bad for you?
I forgot to ask the DN the week before I came away on my last visit, very silly of me!
Currently taking novarapid and levimir which seems ok at the minute!
Any advice on whether massages help, no neouropathy symtoms as of yet.
Thank you in advance .
Brilliant forum - thank you!

I've had sports massages in the past with no issues. I don't see why there would be any if you are fit and well.

I have regular sports massage.

You ask if sports massage helps. Not sure what you mean by this, they certainly don't help with diabetes (but then they don't hinder it either). Very helpful for muscle aches though.

My massage therapist likes to make sure I've eaten before. If your having particularly long deep tissue massage that might have an effect on blood sugar - especially if you have previously injected into an area where they are massaging. Just test before, during if necessary and after. It probably won't do anything to your bs but it doesn't hurt to check.

Thank you for this advice @ catapillar, I think I Just meant will it cause havoc to my BG as some websites saying it could ect.
Everyone is different I know but your advice from your therapist is very sensible alongside yours also, so thank you fora answering so quickly.
This website has been a lifeline to me over the past 7 weeks ( been reading from the sidelines) since being rushed to hospital with DKA reading of 145 displayed no symptoms of being ill except the thirst and urination !!
