Type 1 Symptoms & diagnosis

i am sitting in the office as i type... my arms are itching, my legs are itching, my feet are itching, my head is itching. I have freezing cold fingers and toes and i feel very sick. It is a very unpleasant situation to be in. i can't continue like this!

I'd incline to suggest going straight to Casualty, don't wait another fortnight for your GP. You need intervention NOW.

Are you serious? I didn't have chance to get a monitor/meter today... the kids just wouldn't afford me the time!! I am back in the office for another night shift.. itchings have just started... feet, ears and arms at the mo'! I am concerned about the diabetes and i am taking on board all comments... but i wasn't expecting that! It's the first time I have been "shocked"!!! I was hoping the itching was a side effect of my medication... perhaps i should stop taking it? In saying that i was having foot problems before being diagnosed diabetic so perhaps i should be worried... i'm sure my diet is good and excercise is improving so weight loss down to this... i will get a blood meter/monitor tomorrow and check my levels during the day... don't like the casualty scenario!!!

the reason you was told about casualty is that if you are type 1 ,it can turn serious real quick, for e.g i was told i may have type 2 at first and was to wait 10 days for a gtt, over the first few days i was feeling iller and iller ,by day 5 i bought a monitor and my bloods were in the high 20,s whereas they were 12 when i first visited lloyds, i phoned the dr and was told to go to casualty, luckily i did as i had ketoacidosis and was told i wouldnt have survived if id waited for gtt,
try not to worry , just get that blood meter and test and see what you are blood wise, if it is high and you still feel bad then see your gp /walk in centre urgently

thank you so much for all your words. i am just off to work (another 5 mile walk!!) but intend on stopping by at Boots to get that meter.. i have just had dinner and have taken my metformin... i have a headache and feel a little "queezy".. but haven't started itching yet!! thanks again all and will update you with some results asap. ttfn.

good evening all.. i missed Boots by 5 mins! will get my meter tomorrow as tonight is my last night shift.. i got half way to walk (by foot!) and started to feel a little worse. i felt a little light headed and wasn't sure even if i should continue to work. I sat down and after about 15 mins i was ok again.. still felt a little "queezy" but no different from when i left home. I decided however to go the rest of the way on the bus. I am now a couple of hours into my shift and the itching has started!! Feet, scalp and ears!! I've eaten a couple of plain ham cobs and some rasberries but still feel queezy... see how the night continues!

i suffer from itchiness and have done since b4 diabetes so take daily antihistamines, maybe worth buying some while at boots :)
