Type 1 to type 2.

Well that's impossible. However, there are terms like "Double diabetic" and "Insulin resistant Type 1" that may explain what you're asking about.

Type 1 is an autoimmune disease characterized by your body destroying your pancreas' beta cells to a point where you no longer produce natural insulin. The best way I've heard Type 2 diabetes explained is that it is a "Diagnosis of exclusion" meaning that it's a category of diabetes types rather than a specific form like Type 1, type 3c, etc.

As far as if you're becoming more insulin resistant, that's a pretty easy one to spot....if you need more insulin to regulate your blood glucose levels, you're probably becoming insulin resistant (for one reason or another).

As far as I know Type1 cannot turn into Type2 in order for that to happen your pancreas would have to start producing insulin.again. But I believe a Type1 can become insulin resistant and then require meds such as metformin.

Sorry TorqPenderloin cross posted.

Thank you

The only other reason I can think of where someone might ponder if T1 was becoming T2 would be during their post-diagnosis honeymoon period when their pancreas can still produce some insulin, albeit sometimes erratically, thus the potential for confusion.
