Nar just a case of learning something new.
Well bottomed out at 2.8 and the drop is certainly quicker than Nova and less severe as yes I guess i was in Hypoland but felt fine, no cold sweats and could still think straight
So leason to be learnt:
When I see Etch A Sketch at 8 or above and pointing up drop a couple of units of Apidra in which should catch it.
Stick 8 units in over a period of 2 hours will crash me, however this is way less than I was doing with Nova.
Still learning
Hi Knikki, think I know the answer but here goes anyway
When you have a slightly high BG, eg 8 or above do you then take a small correction dose, to bring this back down even though you may have your Aspidistra perhaps 2 hours earlier. This seems to go against what I was advised on my ADAPT course.
The again I was told not to take a correction dose of 3 units or more at all.

Sort of. Mine on this topic went - mmm, I get 6 cartridges in a box. So as long as I have a full box come Feb it should be sorted by then.Am I the only one have this conversation with myself?
Me 1: Did you see that article about the risk of running out of insulin in the UK if there is no Brexit agreement?
Me 2: Mumble mumble grumble mumble bleep bleep Brexit. I’m fed up with all this Brexit.
Me 1: Yes, but this could seriously affect you.
Me 2: surely the government wouldn’t do something which could be fatal to hundreds of thousands of Brits.
Me 1: do you want to risk it?
Me 2: don’t we every time we renew our prescription?
Me 1: probably but that is a known scenario. Brexit isn’t.
Me 2: Mumble mumble grumble mumble bleep bleep Brexit. I’m fed up with all this Brexit.
Me 1: come on you have to think about this
Me 2: so what do you suggest? Stockpiling insulin?
Me 1: maybe
Me 2: but if lots of people stockpile insulin, there will be a shortage
Me 1: true. Do you want to be one of those people without insulin?
Me 2: no but I also don’t want to be one of those people causing a problem for others
Or does no one else have these kind of internal debates?
I am sure that I did not have any Aspidistra in me as it was injected some 4hrs earlier and looking at the profiles it would appear that by that time it would all have been spent, near enough.
This time I did not correct when I hit 8 because I was wondering if it would flatten out at say 9 or 10, turns out that was not the case.
So tomorrow we will see and when I do/or hit 8 again then I will stick a corrective dose it probably 2 units? don't know. the pen I am using a pre-filled one and does not to half units.
I agree that 2 lots of 4 in a short time was probably not the right thing to do, but I hate being high and will happily inject to get me back down even if it means going red on the Etch A Sketch. But that is just me and why I like to do things.
I have never done any courses anything other than the Bertie Online but all that does is teach how to carb count and yes, I do need to go back and reread it.
Out of interest what did the ADAPT course advise and why not correct with more than 3 units?
As an after thought I might try upping my morning dose of Lantus to see if that will slow the spike down, currently dropping the evening dose to try and stop me going red of a night
Oh the joys of T1D
We were advised that a unit of insulin would bring down BG by 3 steps. Think that might be OK as a generalisation but obviously each of us a re different. I find that 1 unit brings me down by 1 step so I am happy to have 8 units, if thats what it takes.
Hope everyone is doing well, found myself in the hospital because I have gastroenteritis. Doing ok so far managed to keep a fairly good sugar to say how **** I feel
Certainly do argue with myself but not about this. As @Knikki said there've been other threads and @Robinredbreast got in touch with Eli Lilly about their plans for Brexit and they responded very positively. This is the thread and on this page there's also a link to Channel 4's factCheck which I thought was very telling https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/insulin-in-the-uk.154640/page-5Am I the only one have this conversation with myself?

Ah! we are a funny lot and Strine has its foibles !!Well I am from North Wales so more nasal in tone than those down south - no idea what you Aussies are doing speaking Welsh though, even in NSW!
@helensaramay ive had exactly that conversation with myself......and then I say shut up you twonk if and that’s a massive big if it gets that bad as a country we’re all down the swanny in one way or another so if I run out of insulin it might be the easy way out!

After around 37 years of being rigid with only 3 injections a day and pretty much fixed amounts of insulin at each injection the ADAPT course was a real eye opener for me. Also having the LIBRE has def give me more power to control my diabetes, not the other way round
