I enjoyed punk, in 1976, it was quite fun, and I listened to John Peel, bought Anarchy in the UK, and went to see the Clash, but I'm just a few years older than Cumberland, so I found Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, and Television, more interesting, because they were a little bit more grown up, and these small things matter when you're young. I also bought "Blood on the tracks", and went to see "The Last Waltz" and found myself interested in that outlaw country music, and of course John Peel didn't play music like that, so it was fun for a little while, especially when so many people were listening to Yes. It was a fun reaction against that, but Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and the Band kept calling me, away..........

I am also of a certain age, and punk was OK, basically just a fast shorter angry version of rock music. I was into heavy rock during late 70's and all of 80's. By now thought I would have mellowed somewhat, maybe a a bit of AOR, but no still love my hard rock, Purple, Sabbath, Budgie, UFO, Saxon etc. In fact going to see Saxon in October.

Dylan is a fabulous songwriter and I do like Neil Young in small doses but bloody hell they are both dreadful singers, especially Dylan.
Quite recently got into early Genesis, but YES, I want to like, but find it a a real struggle, apart from maybe half dozen or so songs

I used to hang around with the guitar playing lads at school. My musical taste is eclectic. Acdc to zz top with all sorts in between. And just for Mel, Y Ficar and Maffia Mr Huws.Exactly lol

Ha ha, sort of true, most of the songs I like are about 10 minutes long, from YesYou only like half a dozen Yes songs? that's about two albums worth!
I just remember in the Sixth form, a certain group of young men would continuously play Yes in the common room area, and that probably put me off progressive rock for life.

Sweet may have been a bit glam rock but they were actually a fairly heavy rock band, some brilliant tunes

One of my favs though is by Genesis Suppers Ready all 23 minutes or so
They are in Glasgow, saw them a couple of years ago and they were amazing. Support act is American rockers from1980's Y&t who i have seen for past 5 years and are superb, plus a new band Wayward Sons with Toby Jepson as lead singer, who are pretty decent as well, quite a line up.
Love Cheap trick as well but for some reason cannot stand Def Leppard, dont know why
Played a bit of Sweet today during our Friday 70s playlist. Have a different theme everyday during our meal. Also have swing and country days.
