Hi @helensaramay, could it be the combination of gym plus the walk home, the lack of carbs at dinner after insulin and the approx. 6 hours after exercise uptake of glucose by your muscles which led to such an upset. (hindsight being 20:20 vision, of course)!! Best Wishes for a smoother week!!Mornin'
I hope you had a good weekend and were able to make the most of the bright but chilly days.
My weekend was one of highs and low ... but more lows that highs.
They started on Friday night after the gym. As usual, I had reduced my basal for gymming. When I finished, my BG had dropped but still in the 4s. I bought tea, walked home, cooked tea, put some washing on, bolused for tea and started eating. Then my partner asked where my diabetes kit was. I thought this odd but told him. Apparently, I was quite certain I was ok and did not need to test. I was wrong and ended up with a 2 hour hypo because I had bolused for tea but decided I didn't want it.
This is all very rare for me and was rather scary for both of us. I am still not sure why I went so low so quickly. The gym definitely had something to do with it but I had not gymmed with insulin on board, had not gymmed any harder than usual, had reduced my basal as usual and my BG was ok when I left.
I have not returned to the gym since but did spend Saturday ambling around the shops for Chrimbo shopping resulting in 15 miles of ambling and not much shopping.
Sunday was more relaxed with just an afternoon of leaf clearing. I think that may be the last for this year. I have filled the garden waste bin 3 times since the leaves started falling. And there are still some left on the trees.
One of the highs was to see a couple of Red Admirals pretending to be falling leaves but giving their identity away when they flew upwards when there wasn't a breeze to take them.
Woke with a slightly low BG this morning so hit it with a mango and a 'nana.
She was probably wearing the wrong colour socks, or something.Hi @helensaramay, could it be the combination of gym plus the walk home, the lack of carbs at dinner after insulin and the approx. 6 hours after exercise uptake of glucose by your muscles which led to such an upset. Of course! She was probably wearing the wrong colour socks, or something.
I need a goth reindeer in my life!View attachment 29621left hand reindeer is my attempt at gothic style but I use the term loosely
On a brighter note it's not raining
I only have two colours of socks - white and black.
I don’t think I know that one, we usually go to the Outwoods, Beacon Hill and Bradgate Park. Must go and explore next time I’m in the area. I also mean to go back to Stonywell.
Seriously?????
I have loads of socks the more outrageous the colours or design I will buy them, mainly because it annoys Mrs Knikki which is always fun
Go on be adventurous, get some silly coloured socks and wear them even odd ones, brighten the day
Those of a certain age will remember psychedelic day-glow socks that were high fashion x number of decades ago - just saying!
I can't remember those ---- Walks away whistling to himselfThose of a certain age will remember psychedelic day-glow socks that were high fashion x number of decades ago - just saying!
At least silly coloured socks are easy to pair - you have no excuse to wear odd socks.
What no visits to Beaumanor Hall, at Woodhouse, then any injuries could be retired to Nanpantan, to the Burleigh's Gin Distillery?
We haven't gone for the gin tour yet, as we're up to 9864, and counting, on rock, paper, scissors for the designated driver role!
OUCH!!!! That could be VERY painful. And I dont want anything like that piled up around my front doorhttps://www.theguardian.com/science...e-shaped-wombat-faeces?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
A challenge for all of us? Why stop at socks!
Hi @smc4761, So usual check done? insulin not been frozen or overheated (> 30 degrees C)? Any reason for insulin being less effective ? carbs up ?: symptoms of infection ? sniffles, cough, fever, sore tooth, shin infection?: injections into same area repeatedly which affects reliability of absorption?, increased stress or worry ? (and worry about rising, unresponsive BSLs to insulin counts as well)!!
I must admit I could not see much change in my BSLs unless, having excluded the above causes, I increased whatever seemed the appropriate insulin doses by at least 20 to 25%.
