Type 1'stars R Us



Not that great you have a blood clot on lungs, BUT you now know what was causing the issue and it is treatable, so at least thats a positive. We all go through phases in our lives where it seems our bodies feel like giving up, but these pass and things do get better. Having good BG control will certainly help and you are now getting there with that.

So always look on the bright side of life

We have a stainless one because my wife isn't good with breakable things before she's had her coffee

I spent a wet sunday afternoon a couple of weeks ago lying under my car dealing with auxiliary belt related things (alternator, but changed the belt too). It was very odd - there were puddles on the floor when I lay down, but one less when I got up again. But at least it wasn't actually freezing like now.
 

I suspect it's the alternator clutch pulley that's finally packed in - it was already under my suspicion sometime ago as it was showing symptoms intermittently but it got the all clear then - finally decided to literally throw it's bits last night.
 
Good afternoon all
Well I now have a pump Spent 3 hours with the Medtronic rep and my DSN, had a little tour of the pump. Inserted a canula and was sent on my way! They didn't want me to have saline in for the time being. Just to get used to being attached to something 24/7. Back in 2 weeks to go live . Oh my word there is sooooo much to learn, its as thou I am just starting my type 1 life again lol.
Anyways, my bloods have been pretty good today, my DSN was very interested in the MM, she is going to ask me more in 2 weeks time
Have I missed something with the banana??????

Think so - it’s 10 years old and done 145k miles so insurance company will probably write it off. I will find out tomorrow - we were going to change later this year anyway so will do it sooner rather than later.

Thanks - in the circumstances I got away quite lightly just a badly bruised sternum and aggravation of an old whiplash injury which the oesteopath has already started to sort out.
 


Excellent news about the pump. Sure its gonna be a huge change after 48 years of MDI, hopefully for the better

I got my letter through today confirming my pump start date. 27 Feb for 4 hours course and then a week of water. Live pump on 5 March again 4 hours, followed by 3 x 2 hour sessions after a week, a month then 3 months.

Onwards and upwards eh @porl69

@porl69 Sounds like the pump is going to be "fun" thought you did not like needles so how you getting on with the canular?

In light of today’s “ discussions “ about bananas I will be seriously rethinking whom I will be offering my legendary banana to in the future.
 
Hi all. Survived the high temps in Adelaide yesterday. I think I partly melted and fortunately, having an anatomy book, was able to ensure everything returned to its normal configuration in the shower. Rather than ending up like a Picasso painting !!
A trick that mothers know is that really cold water causes the blood vessels near the skin to narrow up so less blood is near the surface to be cooled by the water. The water needs to be lukewarm (whoever Luke is)? so that the blood vessels near the surface stay well open and give off heat as the blood flows through them. Works well for children with a fever ....brings back memories of the now 38 year old being cooled down in the basin as a tiny tot !! ) I try not to remind her of it unless she is snarky about me)!
Appetite is certainly reduced by the heat but thirst of course the opposite but for water not caffeinated beverages which seem to cause more thirst.
Of course the fish in their tank were oblivious to the surrounding world. If they were warmed by their water there was no signalling for soap or scrub brush !!
 
After yesterday's 45 degree day I found a bar of chocolate in my rucksack.
Molten but still in its silver sealed wrapper.
I challenge @Knikki , the resident chocolate runner, to eat just one square of a 90% cocoa
Lindt chocolate under these conditions.
I failed !!
But please do not let Missus Kitedoc know. If you think all of you can rib me about being such a dill for leaving chocolate to such a fate , you ain't got nuthin' on the missus roasting me for such a boo-boo !!!
