Dear all

I would like to share the wonderful results I have achieved through brisk walk in reducing BG levels.
As a result of my brisk walks, my sugar levels have come down at fasting levels from 20 mmol at the time of diagnosis 2 years ago to 6.2 mmol, so much so that Doctors had to withdraw my metformin, and initially they were in denial and refused to accept that, but than faced with evidence they caved in and withdrew my metformin over a period of 3 months.
My last hba1c was 6.8 but without the metformin, which was 6.4 with metformin earlier, and the doctors only caved in because I kept going on hypos because of the tablets, and had to eat mars bars to bring my sugar levels back to normal.
And wonderful results only achieved through constant checking of BG levels which NHS and PCT are refusing to fund any more, but happy to fund IVF to Gay couple. Sad state of affairs.
I thoroughly recommend every one to do some strenious work out to subside the sugar levels.
Regards,
Moiz

That's brilliant
I am curious that yoou had hypos on Metformin, It's not supposed to do that

I can certainly vouche for the brisk walks, Most days i take one and because i lost the weight i am going to ask about lowering the metformin next time as i am on 6x500mg per day and dont take the Gliclazide anymore which is a plus.

Am intrigued with your 'brisk walks'. I am type 2 diet only and walk miles. Can I ask how far you go on your walks?

Only about 2 mile but at pace enough to get a glow on, Somedays i go further down the beach to the fort and back this is flat going but pleasant enough.

hi all !
Sorry for late reply, as I only go through the BB on saturdays only, so it take a week to read all the messages.

First, reply to hanadr, well I found that puzzling to go into hypos after taking metformin, because my doctor also told me that metformin does not causes hypos, but they work by regulating the sugar levels in the blood, so they were bleaching my sugar levels as soon as I finished any meals and 2 hours later, sure enough i would feel sleepy and dozy and as soon as i check sugar levels it would come in at 3.9, very low by my body standards, although for a full blown hypos you have to be in the region of 2.5 mmol or there abouts, i only found out by accident, as i went for a swim and i was feeling dozy, so i checked my sugar level it turned out to be 3.5, so i treated myself to a mars bar, and after eating mars i really perked up and was able to swim for half an hour without feeling tired or exhausted.

reply to broads,

it is not how far you walk but how vigorously you walk, in my case i walked for 20 minutes daily on tread mill taking my heart beat to at least 140 beats per minute, of course you have to built your stamina and it would be dangerous to raise your heart beat substantially through excercise if you do not normally do it.
