I have Type 2 controlled by diet alone and have been well controlled for six years. However, I have recently gone through a three month period of intense stress during which time I haven't tested my levels. I am horrified to discover on testing this week that my levels are really high. I assume that the stressful situation has contributed to this. Can anyone advise what I can do to get back to normal levels? I will ensure that I am very careful with my diet and will continue to test on a regular basis.

Hi Jennygee. I'm sorry to hear that life has been very stressful and stress alone can raise blood glucose levels. Can you give a little more detail about what you would normally eat in order to maintain good control? And what do you consider good control to be please? Some HCPs have a very liberal interpretation of good control!

I am type 2 also and have maintained good control until recently when I have seen spikes in the evenings. Can't really explain it as I haven't changed anything in my lifestyle or diet. It returns to normal by morning. As suggestions or advice much appreciated.
