Type 2 and Hypos

Hello everyone

I'm type 2 diagnosed in June, fasting bloods were 13.5 then and now are 10.8 so still not good.
I'm on 2000mg Metformin and just started on Gliclazide. I'm only on one a day at breakfast at the minute.
The past 2 days I've had hypo symptoms around lunchtime. I recognise these as I was on insulin with gestational diabetes in 3 pregnancies.
I'm not testing as surprise surprise the GP says not to. Do you think that I should now be given a monitor etc?? I have just ordered and paid for one as I know I need to keep an eye.
My actual question is probably a really silly one but being a type 2 and having high levels for some time will a hypo occur with higher levels than someone who has had good control over a period of time.
Sorry for the rambling and please ignore me if I'm talking rubbish
Xx

I thought that if you were on something stronger than Metformin then you were required to test to stabilise your blood sugar readings. Read the leaflet that came with the pills and it may give an indication.

basically yes, you can experience false hypo symptoms if you have been running higher blood sugars and have now go them down lower.........

it depends where you are and your doctor but you definitely should get a monitor, whether you get it from the GP, buy one, or even get one free online.........;)

I found this in the patient information leaflet for Gliclazide.. I suppose you can ask your doctor how to achieve this.

"Driving and using machines

Make sure your blood sugar levels are under control before you drive or operate machinery."
