Yes of course it's ok to test your blood sugars.. it's your blood after all. Most people here tend to test when they get up first thing in the morning then just before eating and then 2 hours after. Once you get an idea of what cause your sugar to spike you could reduce the numbers but you will learn what your body can tolerate over time. I've been testing 3-5 times daily (don't have breakfast) since I got my meter about 3 months ago and record results and food on a spreadsheet. I stopped my meds after 3 weeks as they didn't agree with me and have been diet controlled since then. Next HbA1c result next week.. hoping to see more improvement. Good luck with the testing .. treat it as a challenge rather than an illness..
