Type 2 Diabetes help

I have been Type 2 for around 19 years. I have been taking metformin and gliclizide but have recently been put on Ozempic. 3 weeks on this medication my blood sugars were at 6.0. Brilliant.
Having previously had Pancreatitis (medically induced) I have this week suffered from pancreatitis pain, nausea and diarrhoea. Not being able to gain access from my surgery nurse I took myself off the two tablets. She spoke to me today and I said I don’t want to take gliclizide and metformin any more, but my sugars are now at 12.1. I feel hung out to dry, can anyone help?

From https://www.ozempic.com/
"It is not known if Ozempic® can be used in people who have had pancreatitis."
This is a bit worrying if the manufacturer isn't sure.
I would check this urgently with your nurse, in case this hasn't been picked up.

I assume from your post that you were on metformin, gliclazide and the Ozempic injections?

You may not like the Metformin and gliclazide but I would suggest that you go back on those for the moment as you are used to them, and get urgent confirmation that Ozempic is fully approved for use by someone who has had pancreatitis.
The reaction that you describe may be an indication that it isn't.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Edit "
Ozempic® may cause serious side effects, including:

  • inflammation of your pancreas (pancreatitis). Stop using Ozempic® and call your health care provider right away if you have severe pain in your stomach area (abdomen) that will not go away, with or without vomiting. You may feel the pain from your abdomen to your back.

Hi. It may be that you might need to start insulin instead of tablets. This would not impact on your pancreas.
Thank you so much for your reply. I have spoken to my Nurse yesterday and she doesn't really know what to advise me to do, when I told her that I had stopped taking Gliclizide and Metformin she didn't really react, but said to keep checking my bloods and she will ring me next week sometime! PS, I took my bloods before my tea and they were at 7.1. There seems no sense or reasoning with it!
