A journalist who writes for a national woman's magazine is looking for women aged 30-50 who have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes (non-lifestyle related).

Please get in touch at [email protected] with a full length photo of yourself, an outline of your story and a contact telephone number.

I think they are curious to discover if there is anybody who does not fit the stereotype of Type2s as portrayed in the media. As a journalist and a women's magazine are part of the media, perhaps, just perhaps they have uncovered something that they were not aware of. We can live in hope.
We know about the genetics, stress, other medications, depression, etc. that can factor into a diagnosis so they might want to learn.

Hmm, might be tempted if it helps put the record straight. But very wary of anything that involves media!

Hi. It is known that 15-20% of 'T2s' are not overweight and hence not obviously insulin resistant. A proportion of these will in fact be Late onset T1 LADA (like me) which is something the HCPs don't really recognise (well, you're either T1 or T2 aren't you). So it may be good for the journalist to focus on this. LADA can come on at widely varying rates at any age. It will end up with insulin which HCPs will then say it proves the point that diabetes is progressive which it certainly is if you are a LADA but it's because the pancreas is failing
