Hi all. This is my first time posting on the forum and thought I would share the fantastic opportunity I have this morning as I am interviewing the amazing Prof Roy Taylor of the Newcastle diabetes reversal diet fame
Am happy to add to my questions the best question from you guys so please let me know what you would like me to find out for you and I will see what I can do.

Hi @Peter Allton

I am an Aussie who found his study online and then thru this forum. You can see from my signature that it was a huge success for me now with no meds and a HbA1c of 41 so inb the first instance you could pass on my thanks.

I used the method that he adopted for consistency in his first study using shakes and veges. My question would be why he often moves away from the fundamentals of the study when asked about time periods, rapid weight-loss and food types when these have not been studied as I see many people taking that as a license to make up their own Newcastle diet?

But most of all pass on my thanks as it has been life-changing for me

His study mentioned the restoration of first phase insulin response. Does that mean the responders have normal post meal response that stays within 8 mmol? And is now able to correctly respond to standard Oral Glucose Tolerance Test?

This has been the holy grail for low carbers like myself who can achieve normalized HbA1c < 5.5% within 12 weeks from 11%, but not been able normalize the first phase insulin response.

I would also ask if he has any study that shows altered diets work, as it does seem to have less successful results when done over a longer period, with slow weight loss.

I would just like to say thank you. It was his initial research that I found when first diagnosed that gave me hope. As my GP wouldn't support me in following his diet I did me own lose weight slowly diet,BMI went down from 25 to 20 and HbA1c from 95 at diagnosis and now 33. I'm very happy that I now feel I have control with no medication.

@Peter Allton like @muzza3 I followed the 8 week diet (picked up from michael moseley's book). I lost 33lbs down from 15st 7lbs, 6ft 1in tall - so I wasn't obese to start with.

My question: My random blood readings are in the normal range, my fasting readings are between 5.5 and 6.7. And if I have a carb blowout the next morning could be as high as 7. So my readings dropped but the type 2 hasn't reversed. The question is what to do next? I've actually started more exercise and committed to losing another stone in weight which will put me at near the weight I was as a competitive club level runner (very very lean). Is this good enough to know my pancreas and liver are clear of fat?

Enjoy your interview.
Hi EdMac
