Hi,
I just joined. I was diagnosed with type 2 in 2008. I completely reversed my condition and remain clear to date. I still do my annual OGTT so I know where I am so to speak. I lost 53lbs excess weight in 2008 / 2009 without eliminating any foods or partaking in excessive exercise and remain at my ideal weight. I simply balanced the way I ate, exercised, hydrated and most importantly "Thought"
PS I didn't go on any medication, had a brain hemorrhage September 2009 but I persisted and came out on top of both health challenges. I have a written medical "All Clear"

For me, it's stories like this that give me the most precious thing, Hope. My GP, who is miserable, acidic, negative and rude says no matter what I do, who with and where I cannot rid myself of Diabetes. It's a lifetime membership I thought, until I read your post.

Well done to you, err.. Any chance you could be my GP?

Kind wishes,

Q..

I'm not so sure about the acidic, but otherwise my Diabetic Consultant would make a match for your Doctor . . . with the same negative attitude.

From time to time, it would be good to get some help and assistance with my diabetic type 2 ailment.

Losing weight and keeping fit don't come easy now that I have turned 73 years of age. To think I will be stuck with diabetes for the rest of my . . . . is not a joyful thought.

The very thought that I may be able to "reverse" my diabetes is something I must hold uppermost in my mind.

Hi Q and everyone.
When I got my diagnosis the first thing I did was look at the type 2 diabetes statistics worldwide. Without listing figures there is no doubt that this is a growing epidemic and due to be pandemic by 2015. This made me ask "Why is the war being lost? I concluded that almost all of the information we receive about the way to deal with diabetes is destructive and leads the sufferer in to the "degenerative illness" mindset "Living With Diabetes"?? I decided I didn't want to live with diabetes (I lost my Father to a death from the worst possible type 2 complications that included gangrene, amputations and other invasive operations 4 years before my diagnosis. I was very motivated to find a new way. My way includes "Never Go On A Diet" "Don't Count Calories" Never Over exercise" "Understand Carbohydrates Properly" "Eat all food Groups" "Learn How To Eat" "Learn How to Burn Glucose" Get the balance right, get on with your life and everything starts to come together. In other words - Get the head right and the body will follow.
By the way age does not matter.
So of course you must hope Why, Because it has been done and others are following. Beware of medical budget politics ie Newcastle Experiment/ diet / Nonsense. My Doctor waited for nearly 3 years after my first all clear Hba1c result before giving a written all clear. This is the way to record medical evidence and look after the patient.
Cheers. Brendan.
PS: Sorry I can't be your GP but I can help.
