I would still like Sid to show the 'facts' he has about diets and kidney failure, as I have read quite a lot, and have seen concerns, now I would like to read the factual data. I can't believe I have missed such a vital piece of research!

It's kind of irrelevant though, based on the misconception that Atkins and other low-carb diets are high-protein. If you're eating high-protein on Atkins , then you're doing it wrong. Excess protein turns to glucose and knocks you out of ketosis. I can see that for sure on my new blood ketone meter.

Ahhh, but there we have the crux don't we? the misconception Atkins et al are high protein. However, as the fact it was mentioned and stated as fact, then I am sure I have a right to question that?

Thank you Hana.

I have kidney problems since before i was diagnosed as T2

Can someone tell me what constitutes a high-protein diet please? I am sort of low-ish carbing, but havent increased my protein intake, just increased my fats a bit (butter, lard, leaving the fat on meat, whole fat cheese intsead of low-fat)

Mark, speak with your doctor who will advise you on how to adapt your diet.

The views expressed on the forum should not replace doctor's advice.

With best wishes
Benedict
