Hi woke this morning at 2am with a tendon problem in forearm and took my blood sugar reading and was shocked it was 11.4 which is high for me. my question is please i do have a bad cold and chesty at the moment could this be reason why my BS is raised thanks Gazz.

Hi spitfire

All sorts of things can raise your BG, including infections, if it were me I would keep a close eye on it and try and figure it out. for example - have I eaten anything different, did I do anythig different yesterday, does it go when the cold goes? sort of questions.

Have you ever tested in the middle of the night before, to know if this is a one off?

Hi spitfire,

many will testify that infections will raise bg. Strangely though I am working from home at the mo as I have a very nasty chest infection (I had the flu jab). My bg's throughout my illness have been fine. (2 hour post meals consistently in the 5's). It really does vary so thats why it is important to keep an eye on your own bg's

All the best Steve

Did you by any chance get a cortisone injection for your tendon problem ? This can raise your Bg levels for a while.
