It's not just sugar, but all carbohydrates that you need to be carefull with!Ihi @'ve been trying to be sensible with food, mainly eating low sugar foods and cutting cake, biscuits etc.
I had a "hypo" a week after diagnosis and put that down to suddenly cutting right back on sugar.
Yesterday after a few weeks of sensible eating I had another one . I felt dizzy, lightheaded clammy and sort of detached from reality.
I ate some chocolate and felt better, but tired and washed out.
I spoke to a diabetic nurse at my surgery who said its unusual for type to to have hypos . she said it's probably a false low, as my body
Adjusts to having less sugar than its been used to.[./QUOTE]
The human body is just like gently boiling a frog, you need to make changes slowly or you feel the results, the "false hypos" can feel as bad as real ones if you aren't careful!
You will probably need to keep using the meter to ascertain how your body reacts to foods,exercise and drugs and to monitor your progress.She did give me a glucose meter so I can test over the next few weeks to see what's going on.Anyone else have this?? Can I expect many more before my body adjusts?
as long as you keep improving there may be a tendency to feel a bit "funny" if you drop BG levels rapidly1 It does tend to get better!
Likewise thanks. I was getting these a couple of years ago before I was diagnosed and didn't know what was happening. I think I do now.If you are on diet only as your profile says then it is most likely a false hypo and you just need to get used to them. I would recommend not feeding them if it is false as your body will not get used to them. Do test when you get another one and if you are above 4 just wait as your liver will kick in . It is probably just a little sluggish as it isnt used to having to do it.
