Type 2 Life

keeping on... 5.5, which is a tad high for me, too much haddock on a tuesday night...
going to bake a loaf for a friend.

A well rested 4.9 fbg and weight moving in the right direction. At last.
Oops! Saw dietician yesterday and just after lunch too. I forgot they do a triage of care when eye/foot annual check.
All past with flying colours except weight.
Seeing dietician again in April so fingers crossed weight will have lost a lot more.
Note to ones self: don't eat a huge veg stir-fry before being weighed. Durrr!

@liam1955 I believe without latte this morning you could have been in the 6s. Latte always raises mine 2-3 more on my meter.
Your doing the right thing with insulin. 6s are good too. I always award WINNER to 6s as they are in good range.
@liam1955 I think this mood is also from the tablet withdrawal.
I feel like skipping this morning and I'm not a morning person.
Please keep in mind as I believe you're doing brilliantly considering withdrawing from a strong tablet which is relately new on the market.
Be kind to yourself. No more lattes which mess with bgs. Coffee and luxurious double cream. Yum yum.
I'm off for one. You're a bad influence.

@ickihun - ooh, can't promise you a 6 tomorrow! - But will see! Increasing Insulin today by another 2 units = totalling 44 units. It had to be a Latte this morning because I spotted a packet of choc chip cookies and if I opened them for a couple - the whole packet would have got scoffed by me!! Have had only 2 hours in bed my joints are driving me almost to tears!!!!
 
Well done on the weight. It will get there. My weightloss has slowed but not stopped (or reversed!). I've lost 1 stone 7lbs since Christmas. If i lose another 8lbs ill be in the "normal" BMI range. I'd love to lose another stone and a half but I know it will get much harder. I've got a friends wedding coming up in the summer and I'm determined to be under 10 stone by then.
 
@liam1955 surely the stress of the pain and lack of sleep would cause the rise in your blood glucose? I hope you can get some relief from this. Big hugs.
 
stress of every day life rises mine grrr...
 
I had to take co-codamol max doses and amitriptyline 25mgs to get pain relief. Only once they had built up in my system did I get the off-on relief.
I hope you get relief today and start skipping down the road for cheese to beat the liver dump too. Hugs @liam1955
 
I'm SORRY Everybody for being such a miserable "OLD F**T" - believe me I am trying to keep my sense of humour. If I had a gun to hand I would use it. We men are not as strong as you lovely women!!!

I'm a right moaner when in pain. My poor fella. He has seen a big difference in my diabetes over the past 10yrs. Nothing like that debilitating side affect of canagliflozin 100mg.
There is a 300mg one too. God knows what that would have done to me! Gulp!

So sorry you're not feeling well, @liam1955. Are you able to get some rest today? Am i right in thinking youre not working at the moment, in which case you can hopefully take some time to look after yourself.
 
Thank You All. Yes, I am not working - I packed in work 15 years ago to look after/care for my Mother who developed Alzheimer's and type 2 Diabetes. For 9 years I cared for my Mum who slowly changed into somebody else, and towards the end did not know who I was or had no memory of my Dad, or 50 years marriage and the 5 children they had. It will be 6 years in October my Mum just collapsed and died. The shock and the guilt I felt made me 'Shut Down' for a very long time to the point I stopped/could not go out. And just let my own diabetes of which I had very good control of for 10 years go down the drain! (4 stone in weight soon got put on). My partner and I met in 1998 and we "married" in 2008 - HE ( Yes - not mis-spelt) has been my rock and by my side throughout, and I am still on the road to recovery.
Forgot to say, that I am a Qualified Psychiatric Nurse and looking after other people is easy, but when it is your nearest/dearest it is so very different. And now at a "young" 60 years of age I could not go back into nursing - ever!! William.

Sending you massive hugs @liam1955, you truly are a winner. My mum started caring for my grandmother after grandad died. She had 3 children under 8 and my dad had just started up his own business after losing his job in a factory so was working all the hours god sends. Granny was type 2, had gone blind from retinopathy and cataracts and she had crippling arthritis as well. Looking back on it, mum has no idea how she managed! Thank you for opening up to us, may you and your partner have many happy years together
 
@liam1955 1955 what you've gone/going through is more than most, so a grumble on a forum isn't going to do anyone down, go for it. This "mustn't grumble" thing is not always right. Caring for those you love is tough stuff.
 
@liam1955 you really have been through an amazingly hard time. I'm so glad you have a strong partner who is there to help you through the dark times. You have such a kind big heart you deserve close friendship and love. I hope you have managed to get some sleep today and feel a bit better. Hugs.

I'm now wondering if your better half is diabetic too?
Mine isn't and I find you diabetes friends so much more precious.
My 'HE' doesn't get it. I wish he knew what I'm talking about. Even just some of the time.
I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found you guys!
 
@liam1955 Giving up work to care for your Mum is incredibly selfless. It's horribly ironic that you should then have feelings of shock and guilt on her sudden loss, but I know that logic doesn't really come into play in these situations. I'm SO pleased to hear that you have found someone who makes you happy and is able to be your rock, because you so patently deserve that happiness. I hope you can find something for the physical aches and pains, but please don't ever feel you need to apologise for the odd grumble, we've all come here for support and acceptance, which you yourself give out by the bucketload
