My mother has recently been diagnosed with brain cancer. This has come as quite a shock, particularly as she has been so active and independent at home.
She was rushed into hospital with sepsis, chest, knee and kidney infections. A CT scan revealed a brain tumour. She is in hospital and has been for five weeks. I've been told 2-3 weeks, 3-4 days and now possibly 6-8 weeks left before she passes. I'm so stressed as I have a monumental task ahead of me to find a suitable nursing home with palliative/end of life care, sort out her finances and estate.
My LCHF has gone to pot, I'm not eating well, sometimes nothing at all, at other times things I shouldn't eat. My bg has gone from the mid 5's to 9, 11, 13 some days. Hopefully, things should settle down once I can find my mum a good nursing home.

Hugs to you. I had a similar situation a few years ago with my mother in law and also my father both terminal cancer. I found the Macmillian nurses and also the local hospices really helpful. They both will support the families as well and hopefully would help you with suitable nursing homes. It will be a very stressful time as you are aware and you will have to take it one day at a time.

Your bgs will just have to run with you. If you get bursts of lack of energy nibble on nuts or cheese which might click you back on track. Drink plenty of water. Keep hydrated hun. Thinking of you. Vicky

I cannot speak highly enough for the compassion and first class care that is available there for patients and their families.

Thank you for your support. It's a 50 mile round trip to see my mum. The hospital is recommending palliative nursing homes, I'm going to view a couple tomorrow. The CQC ratings for these are poor. I need to start at a level and work up.Hello @KimG a shock with news like yours would knock the stuffing out of anyone. I don't have too much experience of cancer like this so don't have too many suggestions. What support are you getting from the hospital? Are there any McMillans close to hand? Do you live close to the hospital / mothers home, I ask as traveling can be a stress of its own.
It might sound a little off but I would say you have to look after yourself so you are in as good shape as you can be to be able to do the things you have to. Eating little and often would help.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother - that's a really hard thing to deal with. It sounds to me as if you are doing the very best you can in the circumstances, and although there's nothing concrete we can do to help, here on the forum you know you'll always find love, understanding and support. Try celeriac rosti or dauphinoise - they're really good.I tried it boiled and mashed but it was wishy washy tasting towards the smell. I think mayb I should've baked it then mashed cos the cooking water probs got all the flavour
