Good evening, my lovely friend, @tina_marie, it's good news that Ron is getting some accommodation more suitable for his very complex needs for his disability. My accommodation is specialist to my autism spectrum disorder and chronic mechanical back pain and is through the organisation http://sharedlivesplus.org.uk as a lot of my problems with my Asperger Syndrome involve pronounced susceptibility to exploitation and financial and material abuse from people I've not very sensibly befriended or have befriended me. The idea of shared lives is that an appointed carer invites people with differing disabilities to live with them and their family and other people with disabilities to give them a sense of belonging, family values and standards and it will be a safe haven where people with complex needs can receive complex care 365 days a year, 24/7. This is less costly and less institutionalising than supported housing, residential care or with carers popping in and out of a private home or flat. It will also protect and safeguard me, and people like me, from exploitation by difficult and challenging people. My care coordinator and the shared lives team are establishing finances and funding and waiting for an update from the social care panel concerning my move.
