Hi all i would just like to say this is a great forum for help.
Just a little about my life story
well it all started 2 weeks before christmas id started to feel unwell on wednesday couldent stomace my dinner so tossed it in bin went to bed that nite woke up early hours being sick i phoned up work in morning im not coming in feeling realy bad i was sick most of day could't eat much just the odd cracker that i could keep down i was feeling realy bad no energy i thought i had the vomiting virus dragged my self to chemist they gave me some otc meds told to drink lots of water and flat lemonade for which i was doing anyway.
I got told on friday by my boss i was needed on new job starting for mon i just spent most of friday to sunday afternoon at being bad then had to go up on sunday afternoon to new accomodation id the drive up was ok but upon arriving i was so sick it was burning my throat i couldent move i just felt so ill id never felt that bad before and ive had flu and appendix problems but id never felt that bad before it took me 2 hours just to change and wash as i knew i had to get checked out in hospital.
so when i arrived at hospital it took me half an hour to walk from car park to reception normaly 3 min walk, at reception i said i was feeling realy bad then the next thing i started to feel dizzy and fell on floor they rushed me into A&E id come round i told what had been happening they started doing tests and within 2 hrs they told me i was diabetic type 2 kesodosis my bg was of the chart every thing was bad my breathing my hr bp were seriously they couldent get iv in my arms as my veins were so bad so they wanted to put a central line in my neck but as i was so bad i would be going up to intensive care and be put on ventilator asleep i was getting more tired and strugling just to keep alert when anesthetist come down and spoke to me breifly he soon had me out for count.
when i woke up in icu the next day i had loads of drips and a insulin pump i was still feeling pretty bad and my bg was still very high so i spent 1 day in icu 4 in hdu and 2 on ward when i was given a test meter and shown how to inject as i would be going on to insulin and metformin i was still reading bg of 25.
when i got out i was down to 15.5 now over the last couple of weeks ive got it down to a max high of 8.7 and low of 3.5 and my diabetic nurse has cut my insulin on my check up this week and again today on phoning my bg levels with a view to stopping insulin and stay on metformin.
Ive changed my lifestyle dramaticly over the last few weeks with food and other changes no more smoking.
I know ive typed a fair bit but it was a real shock to me im only 32 im overweight did smoke im asthmatic as well basicaly the consultant said on that sunday nite if id left it another day i would't be here or a lot worse so its a life changer for me.
If this post is worth anything to anybody please think about your life style as ive had to do
