I saw my DSN today. The results of my GAD/C-peptide test are in.. I am apparently Type 2.. not Type 1 not sure how I feel about it really.. the last few months have been a rollercoaster but I sort of got used to being treated as type 1. So for now it's bye bye to Novorapid and hello again to Metformin, though the Toujeo basal will be staying too! for a while at least. Time to do some more homework.

That must be a surprise for you @KezG Give yourself time to get your head round the diagnosis change. I'm sure you won't miss the Novorapid injections!

Hi. Don't worry too much about the GAD as it can be unreliable and doesn't cover all conditions. Do you know your c-peptide result? I would ask for it. The typical range is 1.1 to 4.4; I was 1.19 when I had a test done. It's still possible you are a T1 in honeymoon. If your pancreas is running down then the Metformin won't help a lot but won't do any harm. As long as your meter says all is OK then fine but it's possible in the future you will need to re-start the Bolus. What is your BMI?

Thank you for your response.. I didn't ask for a printout but was shown the result on screen.. c-peptides I was told range from 1 to 5 normally and my reading was recorded as under 5. so seems about right. Time will tell (and my meter) I guess.. as for the honeymoon period I don't know.. it was mentioned before but it seems mysterious as to when it would start or end. Booking another Hba1c test this week. My BMI was 24 in clinic and worked out manually by my nurse.. I have bathroom scales that say it's 27 though.. I lost around 2 stones between Aug16 and Nov16 at diagnosis... and it seems that I have regained four pounds since.

Your story is uncanny to mine @KezG and I don't know my number yet. I have got used to being accused of being type 1 like you, not sure if I will be relieved if that we're to change or not. But at least you can move on and get the correct treatment now.
