Type 1 Type 2 to Type 1

I had type 2 diabetes for the past few years following pancreatitis in 2014. This year I had my second attack of pencetitis and now I'm on insulin injections 4 times a day as my pancreas no longer produces any itself so on Thursday I was told I'm not type 1 diabetic. Has anyone else had this diagnosis?

I think technically speaking you'd be a T3c.... Didn't get that diagnosis myself, but there's a whole subforum here: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/category/type-3c-pancreatic-diabetes.73/

Hi,

They may well have drawn a conclusion on your rediagnosis based on the manor your pancreas was damaged?
Type one is caused by an auto immune response attacking & killing the beta cells.

Having said that, it's not uncommon for diabetics intially misdiagnosed.

I hope you find your answer. Best wishes.

I believe there is far too much attention paid as to 'what type' - if you are insulin dependent then it doesn't matter what it's called - you are insulin dependent -

Except when you are an insulin over producer and your HCP's keep trying to shove more into you to control high BG readings.. in which case dietary changes would be far more effective.
