Hi Julie, I feel your pain! I too have depression which is hell on its own. Are you on medication for it? Sending you a hug in the meantime.
How long have you been diabetic for? Sometimes I feel the nurses talk about it so much they become immune to how it makes people feel and not being diabetic themselves, have no understanding of how difficult it is.
You are at a higher risk of strokes, heart disease and circulatory issues but I’ve not known anyone lose their hair unless they are on certain drugs. But these risks can be minimised with appropriate treatment and diet and looking after yourself which is what you sound like you are trying to do.
I think they are wrong to say there is nothing you can do about it, many people have now reversed their diabetes and there is lots you can do to keep it under control.
I’m new to this forum too after being in denial for many years and have recently had a shock to my health due to my diabetes. I’ve found reading the posts on here is very helpful and lots of support, hopefully they can help you too!
Like many things, if left untreated Type 2 diabetes can be progressive. The important words are if left untreated. Nobody has to do that, and there's plenty that can be done.can't stop worrying and crying.I got Depression and the Diabetes doesn't help!! I feel I'm living on borrowed time bcos I was told by my Nurse it is progressive and it puts u at high risk of strokes, heart attacks etc it interferes with the blood circulation so not bad enough all that but on top of it I could lose all my hair!!! When I asked my Nurse at the Docs Surgery if the Diabetes was going to kill me and there's nothing I could do about it she just said we all die sometime!! Another one tells a different story!! What else worries Me is the fact that it exhilarates plaque formation in the arteries!! I'm on keto and we're told eat fatty meat and drink full fat Milk So I have minced beef and broccoli, cauliflower sprouts and just a sml amount of carrots.I get the 20% fat minced beef, full fat Milk but it says online fatty beef contributes to it!! Also why's gravy raise blood sugars.I had some Bisto and my sugars rocketed then when I stopped a few days they dropped.Wheres the sugar in gravy!!Can't do right for doing wrong!!
