I'm on metformin and have been getting a serious rash for nearly a year now. The doctors didn't know what it was. Eventually got to see a consultant in october but his presciption didn't do anything. the rash was all over, even on my head and extremely itchy all the time. Saw the consultant again who prescribed Dermovate which eased it in a couple of weeks of use. It's come back again but not as bad. I was told that it will keep returning and to use dermovate to help. Is there an alternative to metformin that won't make me itch?

Hi,

Have not used Metformin but do know that this can be a side effect for some people. It seems ludicrous to have to take something that creates another problem and requires medication for that. People have been prescribed anti-histamines for itching. Are you using the SR Metformin? It might be worth a try if you aren't.

I'll bump your post up to see if anyone has had the same problem and how they resolved it.
