6.1 at 08:30, which is the highest I've been for a while. I have a heavy cold, though, and I had a very restless night; also on Lemsips so no wonder it's up.

On the bright side, I had my first mince pie for 2 years yesterday, and managed a 6.2, 2 hours after . The last one, in 2010, took me up to 11.2 :shock: .

5.7 this morning at first test. Werent pleased with the number
5.5 at the second test. a lttle better.

Not happy when the meter does this.
Is it really the meter or us?

If it doesnt add up or balance as it should, it drives one a little nuts.
Sometimes there is a bigger discrepancy and doctors use the same meters.

It was 5.8, which I was quite pleased with. Had a small amount of roast potatoes and carrots and a square of dark chocolate at dinner.

13.1 before breakfast & 24.1 after don't know what's going on today, seeing Dr in the morning.

Hi, I've been Diabetic now for 3 years but was only diagnosed with it last year. my reading tonight was 30.2mml which is really very high. I'm really scared about taking medication due to side effects and not being able to come off them. Can someone please advise? What should I do, I've lost a lot of weight and been trying to sort out my diet. To be honest my readings are usually a lot lower around the 17 mark on a good day...

Princeasl, you seem to be saying the same thing in various posts around the forum, so I'm going to copy my answer from another post.

The side effects of medication are a h*ll of a lot less scary than the side effects of long term elevated (ie. over 8.0) blood glucose levels. Please, please see your doctor/medical advisers and get control of your BG levels as a matter of urgency. As far as I'm concerned, denial is definitely not an option for diabetics if we want to avoid the long term complications. Please seek help.

Medications like metformin and insulin are very safe drugs. There is absolutely nothing safe about high blood glucose.

A week ago last Monday my hba1c was 7.9 so I thought I should knuckle down and sort myself out as I've been an idiot the last year with my diet, my metformin dose was doubled as well so these results probably have more to do with that than my efforts. When I managed to get some testing strips and do my morning levels I've seen 5.2, 5.6, 4.7, 5.3 in the last few days.

I vary from 7.7 to 8.5 im mostly in the 8 plus tho, anyone any ideas how to lower this level, ive tried everything i can think of, diet etc, doc maybe putting me in glicalazide im on 1 ,, 500mg of metformin twice daily,

Hi,

Do you test 1 hr after you've eaten, to see what spikes you. That will give you a good idea and you can bring down your levels that way. I have cut my carbs drastically. The only thing I battle with is giving up fruit, even when its mostly low carb fruit and a little, with mostly berries and pineapple.

I have now stopped oral meds (1 week) with my Glucophage 650mg x 2,(similar to you) and Im really careful.I will see how it goes.

Today I tested fasting 5.6, second morning in a row. I would like to keep it lower, but its the fruit which keeps me in the mid- 5's

Fasting 7.5,so it's consistant most days.

Fasting yesterday as i am going for a blood test today and my B.S.L was 20.9 :shock:

I was wide awake at 5.30am this morning and at 6am my BS was 6.8 and I actually felt HUNGRY! :shock:
