Like Linda, I suspect you woke up your body over night. I am beginning to think that (v)LCHF diets have a naturally higher fasting level than higher carb. Can't prove it but may mean your higher levels are just normal. Would be good to see what happens to "norms" after a sustained period of LC or have we with @Scandichic 's husband - although that is only one. Please don't shout at me, but for evening meal I had a chip shop haddock (scraped off the batter), half a tub of mushy peas and a slice of seeded bread and butter! Eaten at 7pm followed by a mug of tea, then nothing but water. Watched TV.
Before meal was 5.0
Peak was 8.5 (bad)
Bed time 6.3
Morning 5.7! Lowest ever!
Explain that!
EDIT. Just had my lowest ever pre-lunch reading at 4.8.
Interesting. Are you tempted to repeat it, to see if the result is consistent?

@sanguine seems to have similar fasting level problems.

I stopped taking mine on 21st May. At diabetic nurse appt yesterday, my cholesterol level was 4.2, nearly fell off the chair, it was double that a few months ago. I said, "can I stop taking the statin then?" No, she said, it's the statin that's reduced it to that. I hadn't the balls to tell her I'd stopped it last week!!Another good one for me, 5.8.
Best of all was my going to bed one last night - 5.1. The lowest ever by a long way.
THEORY - I stopped taking my statins with effect from 22nd May. We all know they can raise sugar levels ..............
