Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Please don't shout at me, but for evening meal I had a chip shop haddock (scraped off the batter), half a tub of mushy peas and a slice of seeded bread and butter! Eaten at 7pm followed by a mug of tea, then nothing but water. Watched TV.
Before meal was 5.0
Peak was 8.5 (bad)
Bed time 6.3
Morning 5.7! Lowest ever!
Explain that!

EDIT. Just had my lowest ever pre-lunch reading at 4.8.
Like Linda, I suspect you woke up your body over night. I am beginning to think that (v)LCHF diets have a naturally higher fasting level than higher carb. Can't prove it but may mean your higher levels are just normal. Would be good to see what happens to "norms" after a sustained period of LC or have we with @Scandichic 's husband - although that is only one.

@sanguine seems to have similar fasting level problems.

How on earth did I manage a 4.8 pre-lunch? Average is 6.2, similar to my fasting. Same breakfast, same 20 minute walk, nothing different. I am hoping this is a sign of things to come.

Quite so - under 6 is rare for me at the moment, flatline 6.2 average for 6 weeks or so. I don't normally test at lunch as that is always some kind of salami/olive/houmous/cheese/tomato concoction, but fasting is usually higher than or similar to my dinner +2 from the night before. Maybe I still need to exercise more (just ordered a rowing machine) and drink more water. Thing is not to get upset about it, the numbers will come in their own time.

I am always in the low 4.s. I don't eat any supper usually either. :)

Much as I have tried, my OH won't test, to mirror readings with myself. I doubt very much he has diabetes or prediabetes. He's an always been wiry, still an athlete, little man, who eats well, drinks in moderation and flies through all his Over 60s checks, without any medication. But, will he prick his finger? Will he let me prick his finger? No, no, no, no no.

If there are any volunteers to track ideally, within a household,I I would be fascinated to see the results.

4.8 this morning. Not yet a trend to be that low though, normally I'm in the low 5's.
I've been heading more towards a LCHF diet lately, reducing carbs further and increasing fats. I think I need to decrease protein a bit.

Gob smacked. 4.5. Tested a couple of minutes later. 4.9. I have no idea what has happened to my body.

6.5

Will be super good today

Diagnosed prediabetic Easter 2014. Just left to get on with it, no guidance or help from GP. Every day I'm learning something new.

Also 6.5 :banghead:

Preprandial 4.9 last night, 6.4 after 2 hours (chicken, green beans, mushrooms, some berries & cream). It's a lottery - I'm taking to glaring at my meter to dare it to go over 6, Basil Fawlty style, but that's not working either.

Another good one for me, 5.8.
Best of all was my going to bed one last night - 5.1. The lowest ever by a long way.

THEORY - I stopped taking my statins with effect from 22nd May. We all know they can raise sugar levels ..............

I stopped taking mine on 21st May. At diabetic nurse appt yesterday, my cholesterol level was 4.2, nearly fell off the chair, it was double that a few months ago. I said, "can I stop taking the statin then?" No, she said, it's the statin that's reduced it to that. I hadn't the balls to tell her I'd stopped it last week!! :chicken: xx

7.8 this morning. Highest I have tested since getting my meter. I tried out Scandi's chocolate cake in the afternoon and also sweet potato chips later. 2 hours after eating I was at 7.7, so that was a lesson learned. Last thing at night I was back to 6.0 though, so quite surprised that it jumped so high in the night. Must try harder.

A reasonable 5.1 this morning, my lowest morning reading I think. I do get into the fours at times, mainly just before lunch, before leaving work in the evening and before bedtime, so a morning 4.x can't be too far off.
