bluetit i didn,t have anything to eat after tea
Did you test an hour after your meal? I have a roast dinner every Sunday including carrots, peas, roast spuds and gravy. My spike is always at 1 hour due to the quick release veggies. I'm back down again at 2 hours. Just a thought.

Ally, well done on all your numbers yesterday, they were excellent and we are all proud of you. You need to get your morning level down a bit now. I wonder what is causing it after a whole day of single figures? Do you have a snack in the evenings, and what do you have?
I have a lot leftover so I can try this tonight but is it not supposed to spike anyways regardless of whether you are diabetic or not?
What sort of spike should tell me its way too much for my system i mean how many points.
Hi BluetitYou are right, everyone will spike at an hour after a carby meal with fast release foods. Non-diabetics should come back down to base fairly quickly, whilst type 2's can take a lot longer and may keep rising. 1 hour spikes don't matter too much as long as your 2 hour reading is back down to a level that is acceptable to you, but the size of the spike might matter in the long term if it happens after every meal. Personally, I like to keep my spikes below 2mmol/l (preferably lower) at all times, whether it be 1 hour, 2 hours or 2.5 hours. What I have found since my levels improved is that most of my spikes are now at 1 hour, back down to good acceptable levels by 2 hours. This hasn't always been the case.
I'm not very scientific, but this is what I understand. Others may jump in to help.
I think my brain is in the UK, my stomach somewhere over the Gulf and my liver still in Australia! 6.3 yesterday, and 6.9 this morning
Apart from the travel and jet lag, I haven't been able to do any meaningful exercise since Thursday, so that will have to get back on track.
Well! Now you'll have longer with your new grandchild! All the best.8.2 this morning but I'm ok with the trade off of numbers after a 12 hour journey by road and sea yesterday to be with my daughter on her due date, and woken during the night with a message that she has gone into labour already! How often does that happen with a first baby?I was expecting at least a week of chill and relaxation in the beautiful holiday cottage we've hired for two weeks on a working farm, surrounded by beautiful countryside!
Now just waiting for news and suddenly numbers don't seem very important...
