Did 3 readings all day and all were 6.1 or 6.2
Is my meter ok i dont know
Still down with bad throat and cold
Feel really disheartened seeing 6 as i was in 5s and 4s
I just had an HbA1c test and it was 42 mmol/mol. According to the converter tool (http://www.diabetes.co.uk/hba1c-to-blood-sugar-level-converter.html) that's an average of 7 mmol/L. However, I've only had 2 postmeal levels above 7 in the last three months. Based on my meter readings my average should be around 5.5 mmol/L. So I did a little investigating and found this (http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/a1c/tab/faq/):It isn't in the diabetic range. My HbA1c is 43 as per my signature. My pre-meal levels are always in the 5's with some 4's. My post meal spikes are rarely above 1.5mmol/l with just an odd exception. So I agree, it is hard to understand my HbA1c. Clearly some undetected rises somewhere, but I'm happy and it does keep coming down every 3 months.
Good reading @sanguineRecord-equalling 5.0 this morning, although yesterday was an 'odd' day. Office Christmas do at lunchtime, drank lots of red wine, walked 50 min back to the hotel, 5.7, too tired/Brahms to eat dinner, just had some Brazil nuts and coffee, went to bed on 5.1. Nice to know my liver decided not to step in.
Probably the subconscious thoughts of another flood keeping you awake5,7 this morning. It's been raining all night and I seem to have spent most of it up listening to it.
Down to 5,3 before breakfast.
Coming down with a cold/ sore throat caught from the guys and gals on the forum?9.2 this morning..... I have no idea why. I tested twice and the readings were about the same.

Must include one about nuts.....Interesting. Had my blood taken today but will wait until January for the results when I see the consultant. Time to formulate lots of questions.
Oh, no!Think yourself lucky.
I they gave me diabetes.
I was Pre-D til I got here.
Unhygienic disease vectors, the lot of 'em!
Yes a bad night but in the 5's now so not all badNot liking this one either. Did you have a bad night?
Not me, I'm still testing foods. I've stopped testing pre & post for meals which are consistently ok. I guess over time tests will be less often as there are fewer "new" foods to testJust out of curiosity, does anyone here do a random reading weekly/ once every two weeks as compared to a daily blood sugar reading?
Don't use meds but low dose must do SOMETHING or Doc wouldn't prescribe..... IS 500mgs a LOW dose?Hi guys, you will recall I said that as my Metformin had run out and because it was just 500mg x 1 a day I would give it a miss. Well my numbers are definitely creeping up. My Fasting average for the last 7 days is 5.7. When I was starting to get between 4.5 and 5.5 when I was on Metformin. So for me it does appear to have made a difference. I know some colleagues had suggested that that low a dose it made NO difference. I am not going to lose sleep over it though and will just keep an eye on it.
