4.8 this morning so it looks like my ultra low carb day yesterday (11g) successfully banished the remains of the Pizza slice I had on Sunday(I was higher than normal all day yesterday though - Pizza is the work of the devil!)
I don't have any side effects from it at all and every little helps with blood control - I'll probably discuss it with the nurse at my next appointment and see what she thinks (it's not for a few months yet though)Are you considering coming off the Metformin?
Good morning, or evening, Mike... if you Google 'Douglas Adams Australia' you will read the funniest and most succinct short history of Australia, or 'Godzone', and it's people, that you will ever stumble across.... Although you will probably already have read it...You would never believe what state rivalries are down here Kim. Cross the border and it's amazing.
It happens @WeeFurgus7.5 this morning.
So where did that come from? Well, it could be because I had a distrubed night (chronic urticaria).
Was it because I was using a new meter? I had ordered new strips for my SD Codefree but they hadn't arrived (I had not actually made the payment!) so yesterday I went down to the local chemist but could only buy a new meter (Accu-Check mobile). I used it a few times last night and it seemed OK - although I actually prefer my SD Codefree one as getting the blood onto the strip is easier and each Accu-Check test costs approx. 50 pence.
The first test I took this morning was 8.0 but a second one immediately after was 7.0 so I've recorded 7.5. I'll take another test before I eat later this morning and see if I can get back down to the 6's I have recently had.
6.0 this morning
Now using my codefree test strips, which I actually prefer as I think they give a higher and truer reading
When I was testing with the codefree last time, I got a HbA1c that related perfectly with what my software and blood glucose monitor were telling me.
When I was testing with the gluco rx meter for a couple months prior to my last HbA1c. My results were higher, than that suggested by the blood glucose monitor and software were indicating, from my readings.
So although I might not like the higher readings, I think they're more accurate.
First seriously bad reading of 17.9 - up 3.5 from yesterday. I think maybe too many carbs too late yesterday. Not panicking at this stage but certainly need to keep an eye on when I eat certain things and perhaps when I take my metformin.
It happens @WeeFurgus
Had the same ... and a bad nite's sleep will certainly contribute. Let it go as a blip
Mike
